Section R277-914-2 - Definitions(1) "Career and technical education" or "CTE" means organized educational programs or courses in a secondary school that: (a) teach current industry-specific skills and knowledge;(b) prepare a student for employment; and(c) can prepare a student for postsecondary employment where entry requirements do not require a baccalaureate or advanced degree. (2) "CTE programs of study" means programs organized into clusters that include:(a) agriculture, food, and natural resources;(b) architecture and construction;(c) arts, audio or vision technology, and communications;(d) business, finance, and marketing;(e) computer science and information technology;(f) education and training;(g) engineering and technology; (i) hospitality and tourism; (k) law, public safety, corrections, and security; (m) transportation, distribution, and logistics.(3) "Career and technical student organization" or "CTSO" means a designated student leadership organization that:(a) provides opportunities for students to learn and practice:(i) leadership development;(ii) academic and technical skills; and(iii) community involvement; and(b) are intra-curricular organizations which are integral to the career and technical programs at the secondary and postsecondary levels of instruction; and(c) have local, state and national affiliation.(4) "CTSO state advisor" means a professional in identified program areas designated by the Superintendent to direct a career and technical student leadership organization statewide.
