A DGIC shall be equipped with metering equipment that can measure the flow of electricity in each direction at the same time. This may be accomplished through the use of advanced metering infrastructure, or a single bi-directional meter that records customer usage as well as excess energy exported to the EU (e.g., energy supplied to the customer net of the output of the DGIC is measured on Channel 1 and excess energy supplied by the DGIC to the EU in excess of the customer's requirements is measured on Channel 2).
