Section 15.46 - Department of transportation; creation

There is created a department of transportation under the direction and supervision of the secretary of transportation.

Wis. Stat. § 15.46

The Department of Transportation is entitled to sovereign immunity. It is not an independent going concern. Canadian National Railroad v. Noel, 2007 WI App 179, 304 Wis. 2d 218, 736 N.W.2d 900, 06-2617.
