Section 72-10-1202 - [Effective 1/1/2025] Prohibition on the purchase of unmanned aircraft manufactured or assembled by a covered foreign entity(1) Except as provided in Subsection (2), a public entity or contractor working directly for a public entity may not purchase or operate an unmanned aircraft system for the inspection of critical infrastructure if the unmanned aircraft system was manufactured or assembled by a covered foreign entity.(2) Regardless of the country of origin of manufacture or assembly of an unmanned aircraft system, a public entity or contractor working directly for a public entity may operate an unmanned aircraft system for the inspection of critical infrastructure if the public entity ensures that:(a) the unmanned aircraft system is not connected to the Internet during the inspection operation;(b) after the inspection operation is complete, any data collected from the inspection, including any images, video, data, geospatial data, or flight logs, are removed before the unmanned aircraft system is connected to the Internet; and(c) if the inspection operation requires the broadcast of video from the unmanned aircraft system through an Internet connection, the relevant software for the unmanned aircraft system is developed in the United States or approved under the National Defense Authorization Act enacted for the most recent fiscal year.Added by Chapter 483, 2024 General Session ,§ 17, eff. 1/1/2025.
