Section 63.094 - Conduct of Election(a) The election officers shall make and deliver the returns in triplicate. One copy shall be retained by the presiding judge, one shall be delivered to the chairman of the commission, and one shall be delivered to the secretary.(b) The ballot boxes and other election records and supplies shall be delivered to the secretary at the office of the district. All boxes containing voted or mutilated ballots shall be preserved for six months, subject to the order of any court in which an election contest is filed. The ballot boxes shall be destroyed after six months unless a contrary order is entered by a court of competent jurisdiction.(c) The commission shall meet and canvass the returns of the election not less than five full days nor more than seven days after the election. If the returns cannot be canvassed within seven days, they shall be canvassed as soon as possible after seven days. Acts 1971, 62nd Leg., p. 110, ch. 58, Sec. 1, eff. 8/30/1971.
