Section 38.051 - Establishment of School-Based Health Centers(a) A school district in this state may, if the district identifies the need, design a model in accordance with this subchapter for the delivery of cooperative health care programs for students and their families and may compete for grants awarded under this subchapter. The model may provide for the delivery of conventional health services and disease prevention of emerging health threats that are specific to the district.(b) On the recommendation of an advisory council established under Section 38.058 or on the initiative of the board of trustees or the governing body of an open-enrollment charter school, a school district or open-enrollment charter school may establish a school-based health center at one or more campuses to meet the health care needs of students and their families.Amended by Acts 2019, Texas Acts of the 86th Leg.- Regular Session, ch. 352,Sec. 1.15, eff. 12/1/2019.Added by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 1418, Sec. 1, eff. 6/19/1999.
