Section 40-35-110 - Classification of offenses(a) Felonies are classified for the purpose of sentencing into five (5) categories: (4) Class D felonies; and(b) An offense designated a felony without specification as to category is a Class E felony.(c) Misdemeanors are classified for the purpose of sentencing into three (3) categories: (1) Class A misdemeanors;(2) Class B misdemeanors; and(3) Class C misdemeanors.(d) An offense designated as a misdemeanor without specification as to category is a Class A misdemeanor.
