Section 16417 - Appointment of viewers

So much of the act relating to roads, highways and bridges, approved the thirteenth day of June, 1836, as requires road jurors to be drawn, or appointed, in Philadelphia county, in manner different from the other counties of this commonwealth, namely: Sections seventy-seven to eighty-one, inclusive, and the proviso to the first section of said act, are hereby repealed; and hereafter, in all cases relating to the opening of streets, upon the plans of the city of Philadelphia, and of view, review and assessment of damages, for and in relation to roads, bridges, or property, otherwise taken for public use, the persons appointed to view, review and assess damages, shall be appointed by the court of quarter sessions of the county of Philadelphia, in the same manner, with the same qualifications, and to have the like powers, and perform the like duties, as is provided by the general laws of this commonwealth: Provided, That all pending proceedings shall be completed under existing laws: And provided, Damages for railroads shall be assessed, as now provided by law; and that the several supplements to an act to incorporate the city of Philadelphia, relating to opening and widening streets, or vacating same, and to the assessment, apportionment and payment of road, or street, damages, now in force, and not inconsistent with this act, shall not be affected, or repealed, thereby.
