Section 6926.1703 - Establishment(a)Establishment.--There is established the Task Force on School Cost Reduction as an advisory board within the Office of the Governor.(b)Composition and appointment.--The task force shall consist of members who have a demonstrated knowledge of the public educational system, compensation systems, contracts, collective bargaining, public school finance, State and local taxation systems, both Federal and State education requirements or any other area of knowledge or expertise that may be relevant to the costs to school districts within this Commonwealth. Not more than five task force members shall currently be employed as teachers or be affiliated with any Statewide or local teachers organization in a policymaking or policy advisory capacity during the time they serve on the task force. Task force members shall be appointed within 45 days of the effective date of this section as follows: (1) Three members to be appointed by the Governor, one of whom represents the interests of teachers in this Commonwealth and one of whom represents the interests of school boards in this Commonwealth.(2) Three members to be appointed by the President pro tempore of the Senate.(3) Two members to be appointed by the Minority Leader of the Senate.(4) Three members to be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.(5) Two members to be appointed by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.(c)Vacancies.--Any vacancy on the task force shall be filled by the original appointing officer. 2006, June 27, P.L. 1873, No. 1(Spec.
