Section 968.1 - Authority to lay out and take over certain routesWhenever, in the opinion of the Secretary of Highways, the laying out, opening and construction of the highways hereinafter described, will facilitate the movement of vehicular traffic, or relieve traffic congestion on the State Highway System, the Secretary of Highways, with the approval of the Governor, shall have authority to lay out and take over as State highway routes, such highways in accordance with the following descriptions:
(1) Beginning at a point on Route 507, north of Shiremanstown, thence in a general easterly direction in Cumberland County to the Dauphin County line in or near Lemoyne, thence easterly in Dauphin County to an intersection with Route 139 spur;(2) Beginning at a point on Route 1, near Rockville, thence in a general southeasterly direction in Dauphin County, crossing Routes 140 and 139 east of Harrisburg, to a point on Route 129, southeast of Middletown;(3) Beginning in the City of Easton, at the approach to the toll bridge leading to Philipsburg, New Jersey, thence westerly in Northampton County to a point near Brodhead, thence southwesterly in Northampton and Lehigh Counties to a point on Route 443, and by spur from a point near Brodhead, northwesterly in Northampton County to a point on Route 471, west of Bath.(4) Beginning at a point on Route 890, west of the Borough of Carlisle, Cumberland County, and extending eastwardly to a point east of the Borough of Carlisle, on Route 34, east of the Borough of Carlisle.(5) Beginning at a point on Route 133, near Route 23032; thence northeasterly in Upper Darby Township, Delaware County, and the City of Philadelphia, to a point at or near Vine and Sixty-third Streets.(6) Beginning at the intersection of Legislative Route 420 at Primos Avenue and Delmar Drive (Hook Road) in Folcroft Borough; thence in a southerly direction through the Borough of Folcroft and Township of Darby to Darby Creek in the Borough of Folcroft, Delaware County, a length of about 1.4 miles, continuing southerly across Darby Creek in the Township of Tinicum in Delaware County to intersect with Legislative Route 762 at a point in the village of Lester to be determined by the Secretary of Highways.1947, June 25, P.L. 948, § 1; 1953, Aug. 19, P.L. 1118, § 1.
