Section 332.114 - Issuance of diplomas to veterans(1) A person who meets the requirements under subsection (3) of this section may request a school district to issue the person a high school diploma if the person resides within the boundaries of the school district or is a resident of this state and attended a high school of the school district.(2) A representative of a deceased person who meets the requirements under subsection (3) of this section may request a school district to issue a high school diploma on behalf of the deceased person if the deceased person resided within the boundaries of the school district at the time of death or was a resident of this state at the time of death and attended a high school of the school district.(3) Notwithstanding the requirements for a high school diploma established under ORS 329.451 and by the State Board of Education and school districts, a school district that receives a request under subsection (1) or (2) of this section shall issue a high school diploma to a person if the person:(a) Attended a high school before serving in the Armed Forces of the United States;(b) Was discharged or released under honorable conditions from the Armed Forces of the United States; and(c) Served in the Armed Forces of the United States as described in subsection (4) of this section.(4) The provisions of subsection (3) of this section apply to a person who:(a) Served in the Armed Forces of the United States at any time during: (C) The Korean Conflict; or(b) Served in the Armed Forces of the United States and was physically present in:(A) Operation Urgent Fury (Grenada);(B) Operation Just Cause (Panama);(C) Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm (the Persian Gulf War);(D) Operation Restore Hope (Somalia);(E) Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan); or(F) Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq); or(c) Served in the Armed Forces of the United States in an area designated as a combat zone by the President of the United States.Amended by 2017 Ch. 149, § 2, eff. 1/1/2018.Amended by 2017 Ch. 66, § 15, eff. 5/17/2017. 2003 c. 182, § 1; 2005 c. 515, § 1; 2005 c. 827, § 2; 2007 c. 858, § 32; 2011 c. 637, § 112 332.114 was enacted into law by the Legislative Assembly but was not added to or made a part of ORS chapter 332 or any series therein by legislative action.
