Section 486.690 - Fees, payment prior to services - nonrefundable, when1. A notary may require payment of any fees specified in section 486.685 prior to performance of a notarial act.2. Any fees paid to a notary prior to performance of a notarial act shall be nonrefundable if: (1) The notarial act was completed; or(2) In the case of travel fees paid in compliance with subsection 3 of section 486.685, the notarial act was not completed after the notary traveled to meet the principal because it was prohibited pursuant to section 486.645, or because the notary knew or had a reasonable belief that the notarial act or the associated transaction was unlawful.Added by 2020 Mo.
