Section 49-19-119 - Volunteer Fire Department Equipment Conversion Revolving Fund created; use of funds to assist in conversion of certain vehicles to adapt them for use in suppression of wildland fires(1) There is created in the State Treasury a special fund to be known as the Volunteer Fire Department Equipment Conversion Revolving Fund. The revolving fund shall consist of monies received from charges for work and services performed for volunteer fire departments by the commission. (2) Monies in the revolving fund shall be used by the State Forestry Commission, upon appropriation by the Legislature, to assist in the conversion of vehicles acquired by the commission through the Federal Excess Personal Property Program or by volunteer fire departments through other means to adapt them for use in the suppression of wildland fires. This assistance shall be in the form of fabrication of water tanks or other accessories necessary for the operation of fire suppression units, installation of piping and valves, painting or other similar or associated component work necessary to place fire suppression equipment into service; such assistance is not for general vehicle maintenance or repair. (3) The State Treasurer shall make disbursements from the revolving fund for payment of materials, supplies and labor upon requisition of the commission and upon the issuance of warrants therefor by the Department of Finance and Administration. (4) The amount of monies deposited into the revolving fund from such charges shall not exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00). Funds in excess of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) from such charges shall be deposited into the Forestry Commission's regular appropriated special funds. (5) Monies remaining in the revolving fund at the end of a fiscal year shall not lapse into the State General Fund, and any interest earned on the revolving fund shall be deposited to the credit of the revolving fund.
