Section 290.670 - Suspension of statute where marketing program approved; exception(a) If a marketing program is approved for a commodity for which there is a state commission or council operating pursuant to a statute, such statute is suspended during the period of operation of the marketing program under this act, except that the appointed members of an existing commission or council shall be members of the commodity committee for the duration of the terms for which they were appointed, and no fees or assessments shall be collected under such act while it is suspended.(b) If the producers of an agricultural commodity for which there is a state commission or council pursuant to a statute, vote for discontinuance of a marketing program, then the provisions of such commission or council shall be reinstated, and the appointed members on the commodity committee shall be members of the commission or council for the duration of the terms for which they were appointed on the committee.(c) Voluntary commodity organizations may be assigned duties which are necessary for the effective operation of a marketing program and allowed expenses to cover such duties.
