Section 13:2488.71 - City Court of Breaux Bridge; officials and employees; provisions governingA. The offices of the justice of the peace and constable in Ward 4 of St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, the Mayor's Court of the town of Breaux Bridge, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, are abolished, and there is hereby created and established a court, to be styled the City Court of the town of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, the territorial jurisdiction of which shall extend throughout the town of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and throughout the whole of Ward 4, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. The court shall be composed of a city judge, a marshal and a clerk of said court. The offices of city judge and marshal shall be filled initially by appointment by the governor. The court shall be domiciled in Breaux Bridge, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.B. The city judge and marshal appointed by the governor shall serve until their successors are elected by the qualified electors of Ward 4 of St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, at a special election to be called by the governor, and their successors shall be elected every six years thereafter.C. Unless inconsistent herewith and except as otherwise specifically provided herein, the general provisions of Title 13, Chapter 7, Part 1, Subpart A, Revised Statutes of Louisiana (R.S. 13:1871, et seq.), shall be applicable to and shall govern and regulate the City Court of the town of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and its officers.Added by Acts 1974, No. 647, §1.Added by Acts 1974, No. 647, §1.
