Section 13:2487.8 - Temporary marshal; vacanciesA. When the marshal is absent or unable to act for any cause, the judge may appoint any other person who is a resident elector of the territorial jurisdiction of the court to serve as a temporary marshal.B. In case of vacancy in the office of marshal because of death, resignation, or otherwise, the judge may fill the vacancy by appointment if the unexpired term is less than one year, and in such case he shall also fix the amount of the bond.C. If the unexpired term is for a longer period than one year, a special election to fill the vacancy shall be ordered by the proper legal authority under the general election laws.
