Insurer.— The person engaged in making insurance contracts as defined in § 105 of this title. Without limiting the generality of the previous definition, a reciprocal insurance exchange, benefit society, health service organization or any kind of group organized either for profit or nonprofit, engaged in the business of underwriting insurance contracts is an insurer.
