Any person who aspires to practice the profession of speech-language pathology, audiology or speech-language therapy in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico must meet the following requirements:
(a) To be over eighteen (18) years of age.
(b) To have resided in Puerto Rico during the last six (6) months prior to the date of the petition for the license, excluding sporadic departures from the country for professional reasons, business, pleasure or studies.
(c) To possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, as determined by the Department of Education of Puerto Rico.
(d) To present a duly sworn petition on the forms provided by the Board for such purposes.
(e) To pass the examinations required by this chapter, except in those cases provided in § 3117 of this title.
(f) To pay the fees established in § 3120 of this title.
(g) To present satisfactory evidence of his/her good moral conduct through sworn statements by two (2) natural persons who know him/her personally, and a good conduct [criminal record] certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Police Superintendent.
(h) To comply with the year of public service required by Act No. 79 of June 28, 1978, in a health facility, following a plan for the development, organization and distribution of resources for the rendering of health services in Puerto Rico, after consultation and advice from the Secretary of Health, including those entities that represent the affected persons and individual persons.
The Board shall provide for the development of a guidance program addressed to persons who wish to pursue speech-language pathology, audiology or speech-language therapy that includes, without it being understood as a limitation, study programs and the requirements set forth in this chapter for the practice of these professions in Puerto Rico.
