Every corporation which openly, fraudulently, or by misrepresentation, or in any way acquires lands in violation of the provisions of § 3 of the Joint Resolution of the Congress of the United States, approved May 1, 1900, regarding the purchase, sale, or possession of real property, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction, shall be punished by a minimum fine of five hundred dollars ($500) and a maximum fine of one thousand dollars ($1,000).
