§ 2152. Definitions

For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the meaning expressed hereinafter:

(a) Person.—Means any natural or juridical person, association, syndicate, partnership, corporation, succession, company or any organized group of persons or their legal successors.

(b) Fiber or textile fiber.—Means a substance that can be converted into yarn and that can be threaded or converted into cloth by interweaving it into various forms by knitting, braiding or twisting it.

(c) Natural fiber.—Means a fiber which exists in its natural form as such.

(d) Synthetic fiber.—Means a processed fiber derived from a substance that was never a fiber.

(e) Filament.—Means any continuous thread that has an indefinite length.

(f) Thread.—Means a textile fiber that can be converted into cloth by interweaving, knitting or braiding it.

(g) Cloth.—Means the product which results from the interweaving of threads, fibers or filaments.

(h) Textile articles for the home.—Means every type of textile product used in the home, regardless of the specific use it is given.

(i) Textile product.—Means any fiber in its natural or processed state, or synthetic fiber used or to be used in textile articles for the home; any thread in its natural or finished state, or cloth used, or to be used in textile articles for the home, regardless of the state of said fiber, thread or cloth; and any article for the home made in whole or in part from textile fibers, synthetic fibers, thread or cloth.

(j) Attached.—Means adhered to or joined to, in any way.

(k) Department.—Means the Department of Consumer Affairs created by virtue of §§ 341—341w of Title 3.

(l) Consumer.—Means the person who obtains a textile product for his use and personal disposition through purchase with no intention of reselling said product.

(m) Generic name.—Means the official name given to a group of similar fibers classified on basis of their chemical composition and their physical and biological properties.

(n) Commercial name.—Means trademark, trade name or name by which the business firm identifies its product.
