Placement in a foster home entails the immediate and temporary placement of a child or youth with families within the foster home network. This measure shall be taken when parents, relatives, or persons responsible for their care are not available, or whenever the social worker determines that the foregoing cannot guarantee the safety and well-being of the child or children.
Placement in a foster home is a temporary measure and its duration shall not exceed the term necessary to place the child or children or youth in a permanent home.
