(b) Vacancies, whether temporary or permanent, in the office of delegate to the national nominating convention of a political party whose State Central Committee uses Alternative B of Section 7-14.1 shall be filled by alternate delegates in the following order: 1. Alternates from the same District with same Presidential preference;2. Alternates from other Districts with same Presidential preference;3. Alternate at-large delegates with same Presidential preference;4. Alternates from the same District with different Presidential preference;5. Alternates from other Districts with different Presidential preference;6. Alternate at-large delegates with different Presidential preference. Unpledged delegates shall be replaced by unpledged alternates.
Each delegate shall certify in writing the order of his succession of alternates to the chair of the State's delegation.
The delegation shall, as soon as practicable, fill a vacancy in the position of alternate delegate by choosing, in accord with its rules, a person of the same Presidential preference and from the same political subdivision.
The alternate succeeding to the vacated office shall exercise all the rights and prerogatives of the office and discharge all the duties of the office.
