Reference in any general, special or local law, charter, administrative code, rule, regulation or public document to any provision of the New York city criminal courts act, as in force and effect immediately prior to the time this act shall take effect, shall be deemed to be and construed as a reference to the corresponding provision or provisions of this act, irrespective of whether such provision or provisions is or are contained in one or more than one article, section, subdivision or other part thereof. The provisions of this act insofar as they are substantially the same as provisions of the New York city criminal courts act, repealed by this act, shall be construed as a continuation of such repealed provisions, and not as new enactments.
