Section 202-A - Recording certificates of exempt volunteer firefighter

A certificate of honorable discharge of an exempt volunteer firefighter, or a certificate issued to an exempt volunteer firefighter under the provisions of section two hundred two of this article, may be recorded in any county, in the office of the county clerk, and when so recorded shall constitute notice to all public officials of the facts set forth therein. It shall be the duty of the county clerk to record any such certificate, upon presentation thereof without the payment of any fee. This section also applies to the counties within the city of New York. For any purpose for which such original honorable discharge or such exempt volunteer firefighter's certificate may be required in the state of New York, a certified copy of such record shall be deemed sufficient and shall be accepted in lieu thereof. It shall be the duty of the county clerks of the counties within the city of New York upon the payment of one dollar, to furnish a certified copy of any such record of such an exempt volunteer firefighter's certificate to any person applying for the same.
