Section 45-NEW - [Newly enacted section not yet numbered](a) In Lauderdale County, the fee for issuance of a permit to carry a pistol in a vehicle or concealed on or about the person, as provided in Section 13A-11-75, Code of Alabama 1975, shall be as follows:(1) Ten dollars ($10) for an annual permit.(2) Fifty dollars ($50) for a five-year permit.(3) Three hundred dollars ($300) for a lifetime permit.(4) One hundred fifty dollars ($150) for a lifetime permit if the applicant is 60 years of age or older at the time of application.(5) No charge for a service member, a retired or honorably discharged military veteran, a law enforcement officer, or an honorably retired law enforcement officer as provided in Section 13A-11-75, Code of Alabama 1975.(b)(1) Any and all monies collected pursuant to subsection (a) shall be deposited by the Sheriff of Lauderdale County in any bank located in Lauderdale County selected by the sheriff into a fund known as the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund and shall be audited by the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts.(2) The sheriff shall distribute the required portion of all lifetime permit fees as provided under Section 13A-11-75, Code of Alabama 1975.(c) The Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund shall be drawn upon by the sheriff or his or her appointed agent and shall be used exclusively for law enforcement purposes in the public's interest and in the discharge of the sheriff's office as the sheriff sees fit.(d) The establishment of the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund as provided in this section and the use of the funds collected under this section shall in no way diminish or take the place of any other source of income established for the sheriff or the operation of his or her office.(e) The provisions of this section are remedial and curative and any actions taken by the sheriff in conformance with this section are ratified and confirmed.Ala.
