Section 6-64-416 - Establishment and administration(a) The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is authorized to create the North Central Area Health Education Center to serve the following counties: Baxter, Cleburne, Fulton, Marion, Independence, Izard, Stone, Searcy, Sharp, and Van Buren.(b)(1) The North Central Area Health Education Center shall be administered in the same manner as other facilities in the UAMS Regional Programs, including:(A) Training students in the fields of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and various allied health professions with an emphasis on primary care, general health education, and basic medical care for the whole family; and(B) Providing medical residents specializing in family practice.(2) Programs shall be conducted to the extent that funds are available.(c) A director of the North Central Area Health Education Center shall be appointed in the same manner as and shall have the same powers as other center directors in the programs.(d) The programs shall have offices in Mountain Home, Batesville, and Mountain View.
