Section 6-64-414 - Area health education centers
(a) The Chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences shall make annual progress reports of area health education center programs to the Governor, the Legislative Council, and other interested interim committees of the General Assembly regarding the achievements and the expansion of the programs and the amounts expended for the area health education centers.
(b) The reports described in subsection (a) of this section shall also include the practice locations of the students participating in the area health education center programs.
(c)
(1) The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences may utilize appropriated funds for the purpose of contracting with physician-teachers and teachers in other health-related professions residing only at sites located away from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
(2) Appropriated funds may be paid only for the purpose of teaching residents and students assigned to area health education centers.
(3) Contracts entered into with physician-teachers, or with teachers in other health-related fields or their associates, require the prior approval of the agency head only and shall be reported quarterly to the Legislative Council or, if the General Assembly is in session, the Joint Budget Committee.
