Section 26-1006 - State judge advocate; staff judge advocatesA. The adjutant general, with approval of the governor, shall appoint an officer of the national guard as state judge advocate, who shall be a member in good standing of the state bar of Arizona and shall have been a member of the state bar of Arizona and a member of the national guard for at least five years immediately preceding the appointment.B. The adjutant general may appoint as many assistant state judge advocates as deemed necessary who shall be officers of the national guard and members in good standing of the state bar of Arizona.C. The state judge advocate or his assistants shall make frequent inspections in the field in supervision of the administration of military justice.D. Convening authorities at all times shall communicate directly with their staff judge advocates in matters relating to the administration of military justice. The staff judge advocate of any command is entitled to communicate directly with the staff judge advocate of a superior or subordinate command or with the state judge advocate.E. No person who has acted as a member, military judge, trial counsel, assistant trial counsel, defense counsel, assistant defense counsel or investigating officer, or who has been a witness for either the prosecution or defense, in any case may later act as staff judge advocate to any reviewing authority in the same case.
