Rule 18 - Joinder and Severance(a)Joinder. The court may order two or more petitions for adjudication to be tried together if the offenses and the juveniles could have been joined in a single petition. The procedure will be the same as if the proceedings were under a single petition. (b)Severance. If it appears that the juvenile or the state is prejudiced by a consolidation of offenses or of juveniles in a petition for adjudication, the court may order an election or separate adjudication of counts, grant a severance of cases against juveniles, or provide whatever other relief justice requires. In ruling on a motion by a juvenile for severance, the court may order the Department to deliver to the court for inspection in camera any statements or confessions made by the juveniles which the Department intends to introduce at the adjudication hearing.
