Section 27-8-4 - Requirements for examination and examination failure4.1. The examination required for licensure as a marriage and family therapist is the "Examination in Marital and Family Therapy" offered by the "Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards" (AMFTRB) or an exam approved by the Board.4.2. An applicant may sit for an approved examination within a twelve month period, having three (3) attempts without requiring additional permission from the Board.4.3. An applicant who fails the initial examination and fails two (2) subsequent exams is disqualified from retaking the examination and shall submit satisfactory documentation of additional education and experience as determined by the Board, has been received and approved by the Board.
