Section 296-45-52505 - CapacitorsThe following additional requirements apply to work on capacitors and on lines connected to capacitors.

(1) Before employees work on capacitors, the capacitors must be disconnected from energized sources and, after a wait of at least 5 minutes from the time of disconnection, short-circuited.(2) Before the units are handled, each unit in series-parallel capacitor banks must be short-circuited between all terminals and the capacitor case or its rack. If the cases of capacitors are on ungrounded substation racks, the racks must be bonded to ground.(3) Any line to which capacitors are connected must be short-circuited before it is considered deenergized.(4) After removal from service, short circuits must remain on capacitors in storage until returned to service.Wash.
