Section R432-16-9 - Patient Support Areas(1) The licensee shall ensure patient living areas are equipped with tables, reading lamps, and comfortable chairs designed to be usable by each patient.(2) The licensee shall ensure: (a) the total area set aside for dining, patient lounges, and recreation area is at least 35 square feet per bed, with a minimum total area of 225 square feet with at least 20 square feet per bed available for dining; and(b) there is a general-purpose room with a minimum area of 100 square feet that accommodates family gatherings and is equipped with a table, comfortable chairs, and incandescent lighting. In a small hospice inpatient facility, this room may be omitted if the required living area includes an enclosed lounge.(4) The licensee shall ensure a minimum area of ten square feet per is be provided for outdoor recreation.
