Section 0940-05-16-.26 - HOSPITAL EMERGENCY SERVICES REQUIREMENTS
(1) All direct-care staff must be provided training to handle emergency medical and mental health situations.
(2) Emergency policies and procedures must be reviewed at least annually by all staff.
(3) Personnel must be available during all shifts in all phases of the facility who are trained in administering first aid, the Heimlich maneuver and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
(4) First aid kits must be available to facility staff at all times. Contents of the kits must be selected by nursing staff or medical staff and must include items designed to meet the needs of the facility.
(5) If patients are transferred to another facility for emergency medical care, the Mental Health Hospital Facility must arrange for the patient to continue to receive treatment for his/her mental health problem.
(6) Names and phone numbers of all staff to be contacted in emergency situations must be clearly posted in all patient care areas.
