Section 45.88 - Jointers or buzz planers(a) Hand-feed jointers or buzz planers with horizontal head shall have an approved automatic guard over the cutting head both in front of and in back of the guide.(b) A jointer or buzz planer with a horizontal head shall be equipped with a cylindrical cutting head, the throat of which shall not exceed 3/8 inch in depth or 1/2 inch in width.(c) A jointer or buzz planer with a vertical head shall be guarded by an exhaust hood, or other approved device, which shall completely enclose the revolving head, except for a slot sufficiently wide to permit the application of material.
