Section 4758-6-08 - Scope of practice for Ohio certified prevention specialist assistant (OCPSA)(A) An individual holding a valid prevention specialist assistant certificate may: Perform the following prevention services only while under the supervision of anyone listed in paragraph (B) of this rule:(1) Information dissemination; (2) Prevention education;(5) Problem identification and referral. (B) An individual holding a valid prevention specialist assistant certificate may perform the prevention services specified in paragraph (A) of this rule only while under the supervision of any of the following: (1) A prevention consultant or prevention specialist certified under Chapter 4758. of the Revised Code;(2) An individual authorized under Chapter 4731. of the Revised Code to practice medicine and surgery or osteopathic medicine and surgery;(3) A psychologist licensed under Chapter 4732. of the Revised Code;(4) A registered nurse licensed under Chapter 4723. of the Revised Code or an individual authorized to practice as a certified nurse practitioner or clinical nurse under Chapter 4723. of the Revised Code;(5) A professional clinical counselor, an independent social worker, a social worker, licensed under Chapter 4757. of the Revised Code;(6) A school counselor licensed by the department of education pursuant to section 3319.22 of the Revised Code;(7) A health education specialist certified by the national commission for health education credentialing.(C) An individual holding a valid prevention specialist assistant certificate may: Engage in the following only while under the supervision of anyone listed in paragraph (D) of this rule: (1) Planning and evaluation;(2) Community based processes;(3) Environmental strategies; and(4) Professional growth and responsibilities.(D) An individual holding a valid prevention specialist assistant certificate may engage in prevention strategies and activities listed in paragraph (C) of this rule only while under the supervision of any of the following: (1) A prevention consultant or prevention specialist certified under Chapter 4758. of the Revised Code;(2) A health education specialist certified by the national commission for health education credentialing.(E) A prevention specialist assistant may not practice as an independent practitioner.Ohio Admin.
