Section 3745-91-09 - Iron and manganese treatment(A) New community water systems shall provide treatment for removal of the following:(1) Iron to meet the secondary maximum contaminant level (SMCL) set forth in rule 3745-82-02 of the Administrative Code when the level of iron in water entering the water plant exceeds the SMCL.(2) Manganese to meet the SMCL set forth in rule 3745-82-02 of the Administrative Code when the level of manganese in water entering the water plant exceeds the SMCL.(B) Existing community water systems, which make a substantial change in source or treatment shall provide treatment for removal of the following:(1) Iron to meet the SMCL set forth in rule 3745-82-02 of the Administrative Code, if the level of iron at the entry point to the distribution system exceeds the SMCL.(2) Manganese to meet the SMCL in rule 3745-82-02 of the Administrative Code, if the level of manganese at the entry point to the distribution system exceeds the SMCL.(C) New nontransient noncommunity water systems shall provide treatment for removal of manganese to meet the SMCL set forth in rule 3745-82-02 of the Administrative Code at the entry point to the distribution when the level of the manganese in water entering the water plant exceeds 0.24 mg/L.(D) Existing nontransient noncommunity water systems that makes a substantial change in source or treatment shall provide treatment for removal of manganese to meet the SMCL set forth in rule 3745-82-02 of the Administrative Code at the entry point to the distribution system should it exceed 0.24 mg/L at the entry point to the distribution system.Ohio Admin.
