Section 605.4 - Program activities and administrative requirements(a) Each Developmental Disabilities Service Office (DDSO) (see glossary) that participates in the YOP is required to offer opportunities and assistance to student interns that will be entering the labor force. On-the-job training is also an integral part of the student's experience. Required topics and activities for the classes and program activities are as follows: (1) offer basic life knowledge and skills courses;(4) career orientation in health and human services;(5) employment skills courses; and(b) Optional activities may also be provided by the program. However, program supervisors are expected to arrange educational and career activities that are beneficial to all of the student interns in the program. Program supervisors are required to develop and submit a plan for these activities to the YOP program director's office in the OPWDD central office in January and June of each year.(c) Each YOP program is to ensure the following:(1) A maximum participation of 1,200 hours per year by each YOP student intern in activities including work, training, and counseling.(2) The wages paid to YOP student interns are equal to State minimum wage for all time engaged in activities.(3) Each YOP student intern is limited to a maximum participation of 20 hours/week in the program during school year. A maximum participation of 32 hours/week is allowed during school vacation periods.(4) A YOP student intern wages are not to be considered in the determination of need process in the following public assistance programs these exemptions continue as long as Federal financial participation is available): (iii) veteran's programs.(d) Each year, by October 31st, the YOP program shall submit the annual evaluation report to the Governor and Legislature. The report shall contain the following: (3) relevant data on the student interns that continue their education or become employed;(4) description of the training and activities courses being offered; andN.Y.
