Section 61-2.4 - QualificationsThe general provisions set forth at section 61-1.4 of this Part shall apply under this Subpart except as follows:
(a) Age. The minimum age of each applicant shall be 21 years;(b) Experience. (1) New applicants. The minimum necessary experience for new applicants shall be at least three years of actual experience as an operator or assistant on the types of shows that are covered by the particular classification being sought, which experience shall include the following: (i) NFPA 1123. Actively participating as an operator or assistant in the performance of at least five outdoor fireworks shows not before a proximate audience, within the scope of coverage of NFPA 1123 for those seeking a Class A or a Class B certificate; and(ii) NFPA 1126. Actively participating as an operator or assistant in the setup and loading of at least five shows before a proximate audience within the scope of coverage of NFPA 1126 for those seeking either a Class A or a Class C certificate under this Subpart.(2) Renewals. The minimum necessary continuing experience requirements for applicants seeking renewal of certificates shall be the same as those set forth above for new applicants, except that the number of shows shall be reduced from five to three for each type of show: three NFPA 1123 shows for Class A or Class B and also three NFPA 1126 shows for Class A or Class C.(c) Training. Each applicant shall provide evidence of successful completion of appropriate training programs that may be required by the commissioner and approved by the pyrotechnic examining board.N.Y. Comp.
