Section 8.371.2.76 - MECHANICAL DEVICES USED FOR PHYSICAL RESTRAINTMechanical devices used for physical restraint must be designed and used in a way that causes the client no physical injury and the least possible physical discomfort.
A. A totally enclosed crib or a barred enclosure is a physical restraint.B. Mechanical supports used to achieve proper body position and balance are not physical restraints. However, mechanical supports must be designed and applied: (1) under the supervision of a qualified professional;(2) in accordance with principles of good body alignment, concern for circulation, and allowance for change of position.N.M.
