Section 10A:72-8.1 - Use of State owned and privately owned vehicles(a) Parolees shall be transported in State owned vehicles, except in emergencies when no such vehicle is available.(b) In emergencies when no State vehicle is available and the parole officer chooses to transport parolees in a privately owned vehicle, the parole officer shall secure prior approval to transport parolees in the privately owned vehicle from the Director, Division of Parole, or designee. If approval is granted, the parole officer shall be: 1. Made aware of Board policy regarding the use of private vehicles and the liability provisions currently applicable as established by the Division of Budget and Accounting of the New Jersey Department of the Treasury; and2. Required to furnish proof that the privately owned vehicle is properly licensed, registered and insured as soon as practicable.(c) When escorting parolees the parole officer shall carry in his or her possession a valid driver's license.N.J.
