Section 183-2-010 - TWO-CENT USE OF FUNDS

The following types of work are eligible for funding:

(1) Resources and services.
(2) Planning and evaluation.
(3) Development.
010.01 RESOURCES AND SERVICES. Resources and services include core facilities that are centralized and shared, such as:
(A) Centralized equipment facilities, biostatistical services, specialized instrument shops, and laboratories.
(B) General and specialized animal colonies.
(C) Radiation, histology, pathology, and tumor procurement services.
(D) Electron microscope facilities, protein sequencing, and database modeling.
(E) Flow cytometry and cell analysis facilities.
(F) Clinical cancer research data services.
(G) Biosafety services.
010.02 PLANNING AND EVALUATION. Planning and evaluation includes, but is not limited to:
(A) Identifying research opportunities;
(B) Advisory committee meetings;
(C) Institutional peer review;
(D) Evaluating the effectiveness of efforts; and
(E) The coordination of research efforts.
010.03 DEVELOPMENT. Development includes, but is not limited to:
(A) Recruitment of cancer and smoking disease research investigators;
(B) Providing support to cancer and smoking disease investigators who have temporarily lost their peer-reviewed funding from other sources; and
(C) Supporting cancer and smoking disease research projects of no more than six years in duration.
010.03(A) RESEARCH PROJECTS. Research projects consist of the following investigations, studies, or experiments:
(i) Laboratory;
(ii) Clinical;
(iii) Population;
(iv) Behavioral;
(v) Epidemiological;
(vi) Field;
(vii) Statistical;
(viii) Basic; or
(ix) Applied.
010.04 GENERAL. Any funds awarded must be expended solely for the work outlined in the award and cannot be transferred to a non-cancer or non-smoking disease research related area at the eligible institution.
