The Mississippi Department of Revenue is statutorily responsible for the majority of revenue collection activities for the State. The core functional duties of the Department are identified as follows:

1. Tax administration.
2. Compliance enforcement.
3. Wholesale distribution of alcoholic beverages.
4. Enforcement of local option and prohibition laws.
5. Ensuring equalization of statewide property appraisal.
6. Administration of motor vehicle and title laws.
7. Licensing, inspection, and oversight of medical cannabis dispensaries.
