Rule 23-101-4.3 - Protected Application Dates for Medicaid ApplicantsA. An applicant who applies for Medicaid on any basis is entitled to have eligibility determined under all available coverage groups. 1. An individual who files a modified adjusted gross income (MAGI)-related application for an insurance affordability program does not also have to file a separate application to be evaluated for potential eligibility in an aged, blind and disabled (ABD) Medicaid program and vice versa.2. Any application received by the regional office is evaluated across program lines to determine if eligibility exists under any category of Medicaid coverage.3. Completion of additional forms will be necessary to complete the eligibility process.B. The protected date also includes applications filed through another certifying agency, such as the Social Security Administration (for SSI applicants). 1. If an individual is denied SSI, but would qualify in any available Medicaid-only coverage group, the SSI application date is the protected filing date for Medicaid benefits.2. If the individual is eligible for Medicaid-only, eligibility must be determined using the SSI application date as the Medicaid application date even if additional information may be needed to determine eligibility.23 Miss.
