Rule 1-5-11.1 - RevocationA. A notary public's commission may be revoked for any act or omission that demonstrates the notary public lacks the honesty, integrity, competence, or reliability to act as a notary public.B. The Secretary of State shall revoke the commission of any notary public who fails to maintain a residence in this State.C. Prior to revocation of a notary commission, the Secretary of State shall inform the notary public of the basis for the revocation and that the revocation takes effect on a particular date unless a proper appeal is filed with the Secretary of State before that date.D. Resignation or expiration of a notary public's commission does not terminate or preclude an inquiry into the notary's conduct by the Secretary of State whereupon it shall be made a matter of public record whether or not the finding would have been grounds for revocation.
