Section 144-256-ONE-8 - PROFICIENCY TESTING8.1Proficiency testing. Medical laboratories must comply with applicable federal CLIA proficiency testing requirements and state proficiency testing requirements set out in these rules.8.2CLIA-approved proficiency testing program. Proficiency in the performance of the tests offered by the medical laboratory is demonstrated through successful participation in a CLIA-approved proficiency testing program. The medical laboratory must have documentation of enrollment in a CLIA-approved proficiency testing program. Upon request, the laboratory's performance records must be provided to the department. See 22 M.R.S.A. §2025. 8.3Proficiency testing: employee drug testing. Medical laboratories testing employees and applicants for substances of abuse for employment related purposes must demonstrate satisfactory performance in proficiency testing in compliance with the laws and rules governing Maine Drug Testing Laboratories.
