Section I-9561 - EquipmentA. The governing body and medical staff shall specify the types of equipment that is required for an ABU. This shall include at a minimum: 1. emergency equipment including: a. an adult emergent care cart labeled and stocked accordingly; andb. a neonatal emergent care cart labeled and stocked accordingly;2. equipment and supplies used for labor and delivery including: a. fetal heart rate doppler, fetoscope, and/or external fetal monitor;3. equipment and supplies used for the newborn including: a. a newborn crib, bassinet or newborn examination unit; andb. calibrated newborn scales;5. pulse oximetry supplies;6. suction and supplies for mother and newborn;7. maternal and newborn airways;8. a wall clock synchronized with hospital system;9. supplies for unique identification of mother and newborn;10. a secure medication dispensing system;11. emergency call and lighting systems; and12. ancillary support equipment as needed.B. The facility shall have a newborn abduction emergency alert system.C. All hand-washing facilities shall be equipped with hands-free handles, disposable soap dispenser, paper towel dispenser and trash receptacle.D. Vertical and horizontal transport systems shall be operated and maintained in a manner to provide for safe transport.E. The facility shall have functional emergency communication, including: 3. internal/external paging system.F. An ABU shall have storage for hazardous cleaning solutions, compounds, and substances.La.
