Section I-9429 - Central SupplyA. Space shall be provided for the decontamination, packaging, sterilization, and storage. All central supply departments shall adhere to strict traffic control in their departments.B. There shall be written policies and procedures for the decontamination and sterilization of supplies and equipment, and the shelf life of all stored sterile items in accordance with the latest criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.C. All steam, ethylene oxide (ETO), and other low-temperature sterilizers shall be tested with biological and chemical indicators upon installation, when the sterilizer is relocated, redesigned, after major repair, and after a sterilization failure has occurred, to ensure they are functioning prior to placing them into routine use. This shall be done in accordance with latest criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If tests are positive, a system shall be in place to recall supplies.La. Admin.
