Section 604.1215 - Booster Pumpsa) Each booster pumping station must contain no fewer than two pumps with capacities such that maximum demand can be satisfied with the largest pump out of service.b) Construction must conform to Section 604.150.c) Automatic control equipment must be installed to prevent the pump from causing a vacuum and/or lowering water pressure in any part of the distribution system to less than 20 psi as measured at ground surface.d) Automatic or remote-control devices must have a range between the start and cutoff pressure that will prevent excessive cycling.e) Booster pumps must have the ability to be bypassed.f) Pressure for portions of a distribution system served by a booster pump station, as required by Section 604.1415, must be provided during periods when the booster station is not in operation.g) One of the following must be installed if adequate pressure will not be available in any part of the system: 1) hydropneumatic storage designed in accordance with Section 604.1345 on the discharge side of the booster pump station; orh) All booster pumping stations must be fitted with a flow rate indicator and totalizer meter.Ill.
