Rule 111-8-53-.17 - Quality Improvement(1) Programs shall develop and implement a written quality improvement plan that provides for the delivery of care in accordance with accepted standards of practice. At a minimum, the plan must include the following areas: (a) A service delivery assessment that evaluates appropriateness of treatment plans and services delivered, completeness of documentation in patient records, quality of and participation in staff training programs, linkage to and utilization of primary care and other out-of-program services, patient grievance procedures, availability of services and medications for other conditions, and at least one indicator to evaluate the effectiveness of services at the program; and(b) A documented assessment of medication-related issues including take-home procedures, security, inventory, and dosage issues completed with the Director of Pharmacy Services or an appropriate delegate.(2) Such plan shall serve to continuously monitor the program's compliance with the requirements set forth in these rules. Responsibility for administering and coordinating the quality improvement plan must be delegated to a staff person who has been determined to be qualified by education, training, and experience to perform such tasks.
