Rule 29-6034 - EXTENDED CAREGIVER
6034.1

The resource parent shall identify an extended caregiver to provide care and supervision for a foster child if the resource parent is absent from the home on a regular basis, such as for employment.

6034.2

Unless the extended caregiver is licensed to provide care to a foster child by the District of Columbia or Maryland, the extended caregiver shall:

(a) Be eighteen (18) years of age or older;
(b) Have knowledge of, interest in, and regard for the principles of good child care and understanding of the back-up caregiver's responsibility in providing care for a foster child; and
(c) Have the suitability, stamina, and physical and mental health to meet the demands of serving as the back-up caregiver for a foster child.
6034.3

The extended caregiver and all adults residing in the extended caregiver's home shall obtain a child protection register check in accordance with §§6009.

6034.4

The extended caregiver and all adults residing in the extended caregiver's home shall obtain a criminal record check in accordance with §§6008.

6034.5

The extended caregiver shall be approved by the agency before providing care and supervision for a foster child.
